Black Pound Day kicks off on 27th June encouraging people to buy from Black-owned businesses in UK

The UK has launched it’s first-ever Black Pound Day in the UK to celebrate black-owned businesses and allow shoppers to purchase black-owned products or services.

Black Pound Day, founder Swiss, is a member of So Solid Crew who decided to create this movement to give the Black community both an emotional and financial boost.

Black Lives Matter movement has been an inspiration following the killing of George Floyd, Swiss decided to empower the Black community to build an economy for black-owned business.

His campaign is set to be a monthly event designed to encourage people to buy products or services from those companies in the UK.

‘With the recent unfortunate events I could foresee my community plunging into another cycle of historical trauma, I wanted to somehow repurpose that energy into a positive outcome. Black Pound Day was the result of that motivation.’ – Black Pound Day, Swiss said.
