South Africa’s most loved Christian evangelist, Angus Buchan and his wife have tested positive for COVID-19 after coming into contact with infected persons at a church gathering earlier this month.

On his Instagram page on Thursday, Buchan confirmed that he tested positive for the virus, but said he was not showing symptoms and was in good health, the post has since been removed.

The day before he announced that he was going to get tested for COVID-19, Angus said that he is waiting for the results as there is a backlog in the lab, he wrote:

This letter is to confirm that Angus Buchan and his wife Jill were tested last week Saturday, 21st March, for the coronavirus and are still awaiting their results.

Their Doctor has advised them that there is a delay of results from the laboratory due to a huge backlog and that they should know within the next 72 hours.

Angus and Jill are both in good health and are not displaying any symptoms of the virus.
Thank you for all your continued love, support and concern. Please continue to pray for them.
God bless from
The Shalom Team.

The post that confirmed that he tested positive to COVID-19 has since been removed the Instagram page for the evangelist but we were able to the statement from ENCA:

After speaking to my private physician this morning – who has been in contact with the laboratory that holds our results, we received greater clarity on our results. We had indeed tested positive for the Coronavirus. However, we are not showing symptoms and are in good health.
As per the regulations surrounding the virus, anyone that has been in contact with us needs to isolate themselves and if they start to display symptoms, they would need to get tested for Coronavirus.
We apologise for the confusion and will pray for the good health of all those who have been in contact with us,’ Angus said in the post.
