Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain died from the coronavirus, his spokesperson announced Thursday.

He was hospitalized for COVID-19 near Atlanta earlier this month, with Newsmax, where he hosts a weekly show ‘Herman Cain’s America,’ saying he had been put on a ventilator.

Cain attended Trump’s June 20th rally in Tulsa, where eight members of the advance team tested positive for the coronavirus and the campaign staff had to self-isolate afterward in case of infection.

“We’re heartbroken, and the world is poorer: Herman Cain has gone to be with the Lord,” the statement on his website said.
